Covid-19
During lockdown, and strict COVID-19 measures, we have been very grateful for the support we have received from our families. This has been a very difficult time for the whole community, and we have managed to navigate this as safely as we could with your help.
We are now moving into a period of 'the new normal' where restrictions have been lifted and guidance for schools has been withdrawn. We will continue to monitor how our school is coping with the virus and review our efforts to minimise any in school transmissions in the event of a rise in cases.
According to the latest NHS guidance, the following may be symptoms of Covid-19 in children:
Symptoms of COVID-19 can include:
- a high temperature or shivering (chills) – a high temperature means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
- a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
- shortness of breath
- feeling tired or exhausted
- an aching body
- a headache
- a sore throat
- a blocked or runny nose
- loss of appetite
- diarrhoea
- feeling sick or being sick
The symptoms are very similar to symptoms of other illnesses, such as colds and flu.
We ask that all parents and carers follow the latest NHS guidance in response to any suspected or confirmed cased of Covid-19:
What to do if your child has symptoms
Your child should try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people if they have symptoms of COVID-19 and they either:
- have a high temperature
- do not feel well enough to go to school, college or childcare, or do their normal activities
They can go back to school when they feel better or do not have a high temperature.
If your child has mild symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat or mild cough, and they feel well enough, they can come to school.
What to do if your child tests positive for Covid-19
- If a child or young person has a positive COVID-19 test result they should stay at home for 3 days and keep away from people.
- If they feel well and have no temperature after 3 days, the risk of giving COVID-19 to someone else is low.
Children and young people should keep going to school, college or childcare as usual, even if they live with someone who has a positive COVID-19 test.
